The PULSE Programme is facilitated by local independent artist, Zhuo Zihao as the Programme Coordinator under the direction of Artistic Director, Low Mei Yoke.
PULSE is a one-year scholarship programme that nurtures aspiring young dancers in expanding their perspectives of contemporary dance. Initiated in 2010 by Artistic Director, Low Mei Yoke, the scholars join the programme through an open audition and undergo weekly training in technique, improvisation, and other aspects of performance.
The programme culminates in the performance production of LEAP, where the scholars work with different choreographers to experience the creative process of making original works, as well as reflect on their potential application of knowledge gained through the programme.
To date, more than 255 young dancers have graduated from PULSE. Some have furthered their pursuit of formal dance training at a higher level at arts institutions internationally, while others have embarked on careers as professional dancers.
Through the training and development platform of PULSE, Frontier Danceland hopes to support the growth of young artists, thereby contributing to a more vibrant local dance community and promoting the appreciation and development of contemporary dance in Singapore.
